I scored some laminate fabric for an awesome price ($5.95/yard!) back in August from Pink Chalk Fabrics. And of course I bought enough to make both little girls raincoats. My original plan was to sew them at the same time but I decided to go ahead and do one first.

Little Lisette Fall 2011 Sateen for Lining
The pattern is rated a 3 out of 4 scissors in difficulty. I didn't find the construction hard but the jacket is time consuming to sew. I want to say I put about 8-9 hours of sewing time into it. And I'm still not completely done...I need to sew the inner snaps on.
The sleeves are a little short on MG so BK gets the first one. I used a Little Lisette Sateen that I had in my fabric stash for the lining. It's slick enough to make putting the raincoat on nice and easy. Plus the colors in the lining fabric happen to go quite well with the laminate!
I used Wonder Clips (remember my guest post about them?) instead of pins with the laminate so I wouldn't have to worry about holes in the fabric. I also got to use the teflon foot that my sewing machine has. It glides nicely across the laminate.
My one difficulty was finding toggles. I ordered some online that were the perfect size but when they arrived I discovered that the holes were too small. I finally found some wooden buttons that were kind of toggle shaped and had nice big holes at Jo-Ann Fabrics. I purchased a cording to use for the straps.
I started on the raincoat at least 3 weeks ago but wasn't motivated to work on it. Then on Saturday it was cool and rainy all day and I was kicking myself for not finishing the jacket. But now there's at least one done so Bring on the Rain!
