Liebster? What? Huh?
I was nominated twice...first by the lovely Jessica at Chickadee Jess and then by the talented ladies over at Frances Suzanne.
There are some rules that come along with being nominated...
The Rules:
1. You must post 11 random things about yourself.2. Answer the questions that the nominator set for you.
3. Create 11 questions for the people you nominate.
4. Choose 11 new blogs you love and link them in your post.
5. Please leave me a comment on this post with the URL to your Liebster post so I can learn more about you!
I have a bit of an ornery streak in me that likes to
1. Why do you blog?
My original reason for blogging was to keep an online record of what I've been sewing. I was going to keep copious notes to any changes or modifications I made to said sewing but half the time I end up with vague "I added some length" or "I took it in a bit" notes. The blog has turned into a way to connect with other like minded individuals and I've made some wonderful friendships over the years!
2. What are your top 3 must read blogs?
I'd say my top 3 are ever changing but at this moment they are: Ana White, Hands Free Mama, Soulemama
3. What is your favorite day of the week?
Hands down, Friday. It's the start of the weekend which means finally, all 6 of us will be home at the same time. Dinner is always pizza (delivery, homemade, or frozen depending on that week's budget and mood) with fresh Krispy Kreme donuts for dessert that my husband picks up on his way home from work. We all look forward to Friday nights!
4. What is your guilty pleasure?
Reading. I am a voracious reader and have a tendency to ignore everything when I am in the middle of good book.
5. What is the best costume you have worn?
It had to have been the time I was on safari and walking a zebra around.
The Background Story...
When I was in my teens I belonged to the local 4-H horse and pony club. Each spring I would compete in the District horse show (and then State in the fall). At District, there was a costume class. That year, I got the bright idea that since I had a white horse (who was named Red*) that it would be super easy to turn him into a zebra. God bless my mom, as she was the one who took my idea and made it happen. And poor Red...doesn't he look thrilled! The best part was midway through the judging he had to pee and if you notice in the groin area there's a lot happening with the stripes. The judge and I were both frantically trying to make room for him to be able to do his business.LOL
Red and I competing at State when I was 15 years old |
*Red was an Appaloosa and his registered name was Firebird's Redman hence the name "Red". He was my first horse and quite a character!
Our family room because that's where the majority of the family likes to hang out.
7. What job have you been procrastinating?
What job have I not been procrastinating should be the question.;) Laundry, dishes, cleaning the dead plants out of the flowerbeds, cleaning up my sewing room, changing the sheets on the beds, the rest of my big pre-Christmas to-sew list...there are millions!
8. What song do you love to dance to?
Michael Franti & Spearhead: Say Hey (I Love You) It never fails to get me up and shaking my booty much to the dismay of my kids.hehe
9. If money were no object, where would you live?
On the beach. Probably still here but right now we live about 25 minutes from the ocean.
10. Do you have any special talents?
None come to mind!
11. If you had one wish, what would it be?
That the relationships between my awesome kids and I would stay close even as they grow older and more independent. I have a fabulous relationship with my mom and hope to have the same with each of my 4 kids.:)
I'm going to break the rules again by not formally passing on the Liebster Award. Instead, consider yourself nominated if you have a smaller/new blog and would like to participate. And if you do, leave me a link to your post in the comments so I can learn more about you!
Thanks again Jessica, Ashley & Emily for the nomination and a chance to play along.:)
