Last week was pretty much a no go as far as sewing with a sick MG at home the entire week. (Thank you for all the well wishes...she is doing much better!) I did manage to trace off a few patterns and cut fabric in between taking care of the invalid. And with another adult home this weekend to run interference, I was able to get back to the sewing machine and that long list of mine.

Since my nephews live in a much colder climate than we do, I opted to line the pants with flannel. It's really easy to do.
In a nutshell, you sew another pair of pants minus the pockets out of flannel.
Press up the hems of both the main pants and the lining 1/2" to the wrong side. With the lining turned wrong side out slide the lining into the pants matching all the seams. Pin and then baste the top of the pants together.
Then pin the lining to the pants at the leg openings.
I used my presser foot as my guide and stitched my hem approximately 1/4" from the edge with the lining just a hair shorter than the main fabric. Did you notice that I changed my thread color to match the flannel? I left brown in the bobbin so that my stitching blends in with the fabric on either side.
Since the top of the pants are basted together, treat both layers as one and attach the waistband per the pattern instructions.

If the pants are too long, they can be worn cuffed. Hopefully, the boys will like their new pants!
