My first sewing project of 2014 is the Plantain T-shirt from Deer & Doe. If you haven't heard of Deer & Doe before, it's a french pattern company. I first learned of it when Nicole and Justine started sewing the Belladone dress, Chardon skirt, Bleuet dress and the Pavot jacket. Not up to speed with speaking french? (all I really remember from high school french is "Je vaisàlaplage.") Don't worry, the pattern directions are in both french and english.
pattern: Plantain T-shirt
size: 40
fabric: cotton/lycra knit
mods: added an inch to the sleeve length (really long sleeves is a personal preference)
The pattern is a free PDF! All you have to do to download the pattern, is create a Deer & Doe account. The Plantain t-shirt comes in 3 different sleeve lengths (short, 3/4, and long) and there are also oval elbow patches that you can put on the 3/4 and long sleeves. Since K recently pinned a cardi that has elbow patches I think I might see about making her a Plantain with the patches.
I'll definitely be sewing up more Plantains for myself and maybe a few for K. I think it's time to stock back up on some good cotton/lycra fabrics!
